The 45L Aer Sports Duffel Max takes the same sports-focused formula as the 35L Aer Sports Duffel and gives it more room to work with. The two share the same overall construction, including 1680D ballistic nylon, ventilation holes, flexible internal dividers, a padded crossbody strap, and a wide-opening main compartment. The Max doesn’t reinvent the design; instead, its additional 10 liters make it better suited to athletes carrying bulkier equipment or anyone who wants more flexibility when packing.

The size difference is more noticeable inside than it is from the outside. The Sports Duffel Max is taller and wider, providing substantially more usable space for larger kits. Shoes have more room to sit vertically or horizontally, while clothing, toiletries, and other gear can spread out without filling the compartment as quickly. The flexible divider system remains one of the bag’s biggest advantages, allowing us to separate equipment when necessary or push the panels aside when we need one large open space. That flexibility is especially valuable since the amount of gear you need varies considerably between sports.

The Max also improves one of the 35L version’s weaker features: its laptop sleeve. While the regular Sports Duffel is only rated for an 11-inch devices, the larger compartment in the 45L allows 13 or 14-inch devices to sit more appropriately within the sleeve. It’s still not enough to make the bag a true gym-to-office solution, but it’s a meaningful improvement for anyone who occasionally needs to carry a laptop or tablet.

Like the regular Sports Duffel, the Max remains a sports-first duffle rather than a highly organized commuter bag. Exterior storage is limited to a single rear zippered pocket, and there’s no dedicated water bottle pocket, which seems a miss in a sports-focused bag. However, the substantial crossbody strap makes carrying a fully loaded bag comfortable, while the rugged construction should hold up well to regular use. For athletes carrying larger or bulkier equipment, we’d choose the Aer Sports Duffel Max over the regular version for its additional capacity and improved laptop fit.
