We like to wear glittery baubles at home, so why should travel be any different? However, if you've ever tried to pack delicate necklaces, chunky earrings, and statement rings for a trip, you know that the way you pack them in your carry-on luggage or travel backpack isn't necessarily how you'll find them when you arrive. No one wants to spend a frustrating half hour trying to untangle one necklace from another, or hunting for the pair to your favorite earring, which is where a travel jewelry case or a travel jewelry organizer can come in handy.
However, there are plenty of options out there, and it's not always easy to tell a good jewelry travel case from a poor one, so our blingy testers have sorted through the mess of choices to find the best travel jewelry case for any situation. Whether you need necklaces to match every outfit or want to bring a half dozen earrings and bracelets along, you're bound to find a travel jewelry box that suits your style. And if you're still wondering how to protect your gems on a trip by the end, check out our FAQ section for more tips and tricks.
Lolalet Travel Jewelry Case Organizer
Best value
It's not often that one of the best travel accessories is also one of the most affordable. If you're looking for that unicorn in a pile of travel jewelry cases, you'll find it with the Lolalet Travel Jewelry Case Organizer. It has a soft exterior and a small footprint that's easy to fit into luggage, a travel backpack, or a travel daypack. Yet, it still holds your jewelry in place nicely as you travel. It accommodates 16 pairs of stud earrings, four necklaces, four bracelets or bulkier pieces in a fan pouch (which is removable if you don't need it), and rings on a sliding holder.
It sailed through our shake test, with dangly French wire earrings staying on the earring grid, and necklaces remaining snapped into place and in the pouch below. The pouch is divided in half, so two necklaces share space, but they still didn't tangle, likely because the organizer isn't super deep, so there wasn't space for them to wiggle around once we zipped it closed. The fan organizer is great for holding the gear that often doesn't have a specific place in other travel jewelry cases, from bracelets and bangles to hoop earrings and a watch.
Why We Like It- The fan-style pouch lets you carry more when you need it and leave it at home to save space
- It's PU exterior is very soft, as is the microfiber-lined interior
- It's the size of a bifold wallet, but you can make it much slimmer by bringing less
- Since it's not that large, necklaces pool in their pouches
Oradina The Ultimate Jewelry Case
Best travel jewelry case for rings
Best travel jewelry case for necklaces
The Ultimate Jewelry Case from Oradina is larger, but size is subjective. It's long and wide, but not very deep. That layout also makes it one of the best for preventing necklace tangles and keeping earrings from falling off as you travel, since the material naturally holds them in place when you fold it up. Necklaces snap into four loops on the back panel and are held in place with individual elastics at the center before falling into separate pockets at the bottom. You can carry 12 pairs of stud earrings and put extras in the zippered pockets. We like the variety of shapes and sizes of the four zippered pockets, since some work better for watches, some for bracelets, and others for bangles. Plus, you can carry more rings in this case than in many other travel jewelry organizers, since it has two ring holders to slide them on instead of just one.
It opens flat, so you can see just about everything at the same time, though there's a divider panel with pockets on its face that flips over the necklaces or the earrings and ring storage. All the snaps include magnets for quick, easy connections, and the liner is super soft to protect delicate items.
Why We Like It- There are two 3-inch ring holders, so you can bring all the bling
- With buttons to hold them in place and the ability to lock chains down in the center, necklaces don't tangle as you travel
- The case is the size of a small clutch purse, but you can bring a lot of jewelry on your trip
- The exterior material isn't very soft, but it's water-resistant
Away Featherlight Jewelry Roll
Best rolling jewelry case
Jewelry cases don't have to take up a lot of room in your travel bag, and we've found that soft-sided cases are easier to pack than hard ones. You don't have to sacrifice organization and the security of your jewelry with the Away Featherlight Jewelry Roll, though. It has four necklace hooks that let your chains hang behind everything else, so they won't tangle with your earrings if they fall off while you travel. They stayed in place during our shake test, too, and while two neighboring chains got a little tangled, they weren't so knotted that we had to spend time pulling them apart; they basically detangled themselves as we pulled them out of the jewelry case.
The ring holder is fairly large, so you can bring at least eight rings, if not more, depending on how chunky they are, and there are stud holes for up to 10 pairs of earrings. You'll want to ensure they have backings or use the zippered pocket for French wire hooks without them, since they could fall off as you travel. However, satin flaps fold over your jewelry before you roll it up, so they're unlikely to fall out and get lost. The zippered pocket is wide enough to handle a watch and bracelets easily, as well, so you'll have plenty of room for any jewelry you want to bring along with this jewelry travel case.
Why We Like It- It compresses down smaller when you bring less jewelry
- The roll is about the size of a breakfast burrito, so it's pretty easy to fit in a travel bag
- It's probably overkill if you only bring a few pieces
- If you miss the hook when hanging a necklace, it's hard to fish it from the bottom of the pouch
Bagsmart Dazzling Jewelry Organizer
Best travel jewelry case for earrings
Best travel jewelry case for necklaces
If you're traveling long-term, you're going to need a bigger travel jewelry case, and BAGSMART has you covered. The Dazzling Jewelry Organizer holds more than many jewelry travel cases, and it has a unique organizational style, too. If you collected cards as a kid, you'll recognize the plastic-pockets-in-a-binder-style setup; who knew it worked so well for jewelry? While it has a card for nine pairs of earrings, you can also stow ones that don't fit well on its stud holders in the 18 small plastic grid pouches, which are even large enough for big hoops or chandelier-style earrings. Anything bigger, from bracelets and bangles to watches and really, really big earrings, can go in the four larger grid pouches. Since the grids and earring cards attach in the center to binder rings, you only have to use what you want and leave the rest behind.
You can carry six necklaces in this travel jewelry organizer, and they stay in place well with individual holders to snap them into at the top, elastics held in place with snaps in the middle, and individual pouches at the bottom. Even our most delicate chains didn't fall out or tangle after traveling with them for a few days.
Why We Like It- It has tons of unique organizational options, including the ability to flip through your earrings and rings like Pokémon cards
- The slots on the earring card give you the ability to attach different styles more easily than trying to fit French wire and lever backs into stud holes
- While there's not a dedicated ring rod, they stow easily in the small grid pouches
- It has a large footprint that doesn't really compress, so only get it if you routinely travel with a lot of jewelry
Monos Travel Jewelry Case
Best customizable jewelry case
You don't always need to bring every type of jewelry with you on a trip, so it's nice to opt for a travel jewelry box with flexible organization. The Monos Travel Jewelry Case is hard-sided to protect your delicate gear, but it also has a removable 7-ring, slot-style holder and a tiny pouch to keep certain jewelry separate from everything else. The ring holder serves as a divider in the center, but you can stow a watch or large bangle bracelets in the space if you remove it. The 4-pair earring panel has a pouch below it to hold dangly earrings, but it also acts as a necklace holder. However, we don't like using this feature. It didn't do well in the shake test when we used the panel for earrings and necklaces together. This one is better for chunky necklaces than delicate chains, since you can pack them on the bottom.
However, you can bring four pairs of stud-style earrings, a dress watch, a bracelet, and rings without risking a tangled mess upon arrival. It's a simple design that doesn't require a learning curve, and it keeps everything on display at all times when you open it, making it easy to find what you need quickly. That's worth it when you're running late for dinner and don't want to hunt down your favorite jewelry to complete your ensemble.
Why We Like It- The earring panel and ring organizer are removable if you don't need them
- Nothing will get crushed or kinked as you travel
- You can stow a large watch or use the ring divider, but not both
- Packing necklaces and earrings together can create a tangle
BAGSMART Travel Jewelry Organizer Case Foldable
Best folding travel jewelry case
If you're looking for the Goldilocks of travel jewelry cases, you might find it with the BAGSMART Travel Jewelry Organizer Case. This foldable jewelry case holds nine pairs of stud earrings, three necklaces, rings, and other jewelry in a variety of pockets and pouches. Though it's small, each necklace is held in place with a snapping loop, an elastic in the middle, and an individual pouch. Even though they slightly escaped their pouches during the shake test, they didn't tangle, so we think it'll work well for you as long as you only need three necklaces. There are two smaller and one larger zippered pockets for a watch, bracelet, and larger earrings, and the earring grid is easily accessible, though you may have to finish poking through a few holes the first time you use it.
Since it's from BAGSMART, we're not surprised to see it available in a variety of colors, and the quilted exterior is soft, though it has a few loose threads. Still, since it's something you'll only use occasionally, it should last through years of trips, though it might wear out faster than some more premium options.
Why We Like It- You can get the same style in a larger medium size if you need more space
- Different-sized pockets give you options for bulkier pieces
- While it's inexpensive, it might not last very long, as there are loose threads
- You may have to poke through the earring grid holes the first time, as they didn't seem to all be punched all the way through
Quince Leather Jewelry Travel Case
Best leather jewelry case
Best mini jewelry case
If you want to bring jewelry in a hard case without it taking up too much space in your travel backpack, you'll like the Quince Leather Jewelry Case. It's a 4-by-4-inch square, but it's just over an inch tall, so it's easier to squeeze into the leftover spaces in your bag. It's also made with leather, so it feels more premium and like something you'd want to use all the time, not just on a trip. It won't hold a ton—there are spots for three pairs of earrings, four necklaces, and as many rings as you can fit on the 2-inch holder—but it also won't take up much space in your bag or the bedside table.
The caveat is that it has issues with tangles if you try to pack necklaces. It has individual hooks to hold chains, with a pocket below to hold them, but because nothing lies on top of them, they still fall off the hooks and out of the pocket with enough jostling. The bottom has holders for earrings and rings, and the separation keeps them from tangling with necklaces, so we like the layout better on this jewelry organizer than on ones with holders that serve double duty.
Why We Like It- It's made with leather and has an anti-tarnish microsuede interior lining
- It's not more expensive than the jewelry it holds
- The hooks are small and might not accommodate chunkier necklaces
- You'll have to store watches and bracelets on top of the earrings and rings, as there's no separate spot
Others We Considered
The KElofoN Travel Jewelry Case is another hard-case option that doesn’t cost a lot. It has a unique organization that hides your necklaces behind a mirror that doubles as the earring stud holder, with a divided section on the bottom for other earrings and rings. However, it doesn’t perform as well as our best value option. Jewelry falls out of place if it gets jostled, and even though it’s small, it’s still hard to find a place for it in your travel bag.
Why You Should Trust Us
From our everyday chains and bracelets to earrings that match every outfit and statement necklaces to jazz things up, plenty of Pack Hacker testers love to travel with jewelry. Unfortunately, we’ve often arrived at our destination to find our delicate necklaces in a massive knot, and stressed over potential lost earrings (which ended up being in the middle of that mess!). So, we know a thing or two about how not to pack jewelry for a trip, and we’re always on the hunt for a better way to bring our favorite baubles as we travel.
How We Tested It

Test 2: We put each case through the shake test. After packing them the way they were designed, we closed each case and shook it for at least a minute to simulate a ride in a travel bag, whether it’s in your car, on a plane, or being tossed around by a baggage handler. Some cases performed well, others, not so much. We’ve noted what happened to the jewelry in each case to help you decide if it’s a deal-breaker.
