Eagle Creek Silicone Bottle Set Review

When you’re putting together a travel toiletry kit, a good set of bottles is one of those things you don’t think much about—until one leaks all over your bag. We’ve been testing the Eagle Creek Silicone Bottle Set to see whether these simple toiletry bottles deserve a spot in your travel setup. Let’s dive in!

The Rundown

This set comes with three bottles, which is enough for most trips. At the time of writing, the set costs around $30, which works out to roughly $10 per bottle. That’s not inexpensive, though you’re getting a solid set from a well-known travel brand.

The bottles are crafted from silicone and polypropylene and are made without the intentional use of PFAS. The silicone has enough give that it’s easy to squeeze product out, but it doesn’t feel flimsy. Instead, it strikes a nice balance between flexibility and durability, and after using them throughout our extended testing period, they still look nearly new.

The construction is pretty straightforward. The silicone body attaches to a hard plastic insert with a male screw thread. The flip-top cap screws onto the insert, and the product exits through an X-shaped silicone opening. It’s a simple design, but sometimes that’s all you need. We haven’t had any issues with leaks, and the opening dispenses a controlled amount of shampoo, conditioner, or body wash without making a mess.

Cleaning is one area where the design isn’t quite perfect. Since you can’t completely remove the hard plastic from the silicone body, it’s a little trickier to get inside than with bottles where every component comes apart. That said, it isn’t especially difficult to clean—it just takes a little more effort. We never found ourselves dreading the process.

On the back of each bottle, you’ll find “3 fl oz (89 mL)” molded into the silicone. That’s comfortably under the TSA liquid limit of 3.4 ounces (100 mL), so you won’t have any issues bringing these in your carry-on. You’ll still need to pack them inside your 3-1-1 liquids bag, of course, but the size is right where you’d want it.

Because the set includes three bottles, you’re pretty much covered for most trips right out of the box. We filled ours with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and never felt like we needed another bottle. Of course, if your routine involves more products, you can always pick up another set.

We tested these on a 10-day road trip through Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula and another trip to NYC. Along the way, they lived in a toiletry bag, got tossed into the car, spent time in cabins and hotels, and handled plenty of daily use.

Throughout all of that, they were exactly what we wanted them to be. They were easy to fill, comfortable to hold in the shower—even with wet hands—and, most importantly, they never leaked. Nothing about them feels revolutionary, but that’s almost the point. They simply work, and after more than a week and a half of travel, we never had a reason to think about them. That’s about the highest compliment we can give a travel bottle.

Packability

Each bottle measures 5 x 1.5 x 1.5 inches (13 x 4 x 4 centimeters), and the full three-bottle set weighs 6 ounces (170 grams).

There’s honestly not a lot to say here, and that’s a good thing. These are a standard size that fits comfortably into every TSA-compliant 3-1-1 liquids bag we’ve tested. They’re easy to organize in a toiletry kit, and their slim shape makes them easy to grab in the shower.

Whether you’re packing for a weekend getaway or a longer international trip, they don’t require any special planning. Fill them up, toss them in your liquids bag, and you’re ready to roll.

Quick Comparison

The Gravel Soft 3oz Liquid Bottles take a different approach than the Eagle Creek Silicone Bottle Set, though both accomplish the same goal.

The biggest difference is that the Gravel bottles are designed with modularity in mind. The two bottles slot together neatly, making them feel like a single brick in your toiletry kit. They also include rotating labels to help you quickly identify what’s inside each bottle. The Eagle Creek bottles skip those extra features in favor of a much more traditional design.

In day-to-day use, though, both perform well. They have durable silicone bodies, dispense liquids easily, and, during our testing, neither bottle leaked.

The Eagle Creek set comes with three bottles instead of two, which is nice if your shower routine includes shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. With Gravel, you’ll likely need to purchase another set if you want three matching bottles. And then, you might as well pack four, because you lose the packable, squared-off design with an odd number of bottles.

Ultimately, the choice comes down to whether you value clever organization features or straightforward simplicity. If you like bottles that interlock and include built-in labels, the Gravel set is still one of our favorites. If you just want three durable bottles that are easy to fill and use and that fit seamlessly into your travel routine without any fuss, the Eagle Creek Silicone Bottle Set gets the job done well.
