EVERGOODS Transit Duffel 25L Review

The EVERGOODS Transit Duffel 25L occupies an interesting space. It’s technically a duffel, but it doesn’t always feel like one. At 25 liters, it lands somewhere between a traditional duffel bag and a large briefcase, making it just as comfortable heading to a coffee shop as it is packing for a weekend away. We took it on a short trip to visit family, loaded it with work gear, and generally found it easy to live with. If you’re looking for a bag for two or three days on the road—or simply a versatile carry-all for daily life—the Transit Duffel 25L makes a compelling case.

External Components

The Transit Duffel 25L is built from EVERGOODS’ custom-developed 840D ballistic nylon 6 with a C0 durable water repellent finish. If you’ve used EVERGOODS gear before, this material will feel familiar. It’s highly durable, has a clean appearance, and strikes a nice balance between ruggedness and weight. This isn’t an ultralight duffel, though it never felt excessively heavy considering how confidence-inspiring the materials are. It has the kind of construction that feels ready for years of use without becoming cumbersome.

EVERGOODS offers the bag in Solution Dyed Black, Fossil Brown, and OD Green. We had the OD Green colorway on hand, and we’re fans. It has an earthy look that feels understated without blending into the sea of black luggage you’ll find at airports. That said, all three colorways look solid, so there’s really no wrong choice here.

YKK zippers handle every opening on the bag, and we’ve come to trust them after nearly a decade of testing travel gear. They’re smooth, durable, and simply work. The zipper pulls are straightforward, too. Nothing flashy, just easy to grab and manipulate, whether you’re opening the main compartment or reaching for something in one of the exterior pockets.

The hardware comes from Duraflex and performs exactly as we’d expect. Every buckle snaps together securely and feels built to last. They’re a little louder than some other hardware when clipping together, though. In fact, one snap while writing this review startled the primary tester’s dog enough that he came over to investigate. Humans may be slightly less adorable when reacting to the noise in a quiet coffee shop or library, but it’s hardly a dealbreaker. If anything, the hardware may loosen up slightly with continued use.

One feature we appreciate is EVERGOODS’ hook-and-loop logo patch. This allows you to swap in your own patch if you’d like. Of course, you don’t have to do anything with it. The stock patch looks good on its own, but it’s a fun way to personalize the bag. Pick up a patch while traveling, swap it in when you get home, and before long, you’ve got a collection that tells the story of where you’ve been—kind of like Pokémon cards, just with less trading at recess.

The bottom panel incorporates a fold down the middle that allows the duffel to collapse flatter when it’s empty. It’s a simple design choice that makes storing the bag much easier. Whether you’re tucking it into a closet, sliding it inside a larger travel bag, or finding room for it in the trunk before a road trip, the bag compresses without feeling floppy or awkward.

Around back is an integrated luggage pass-through that works exactly as intended. It’s wide enough to stay stable on a rolling suitcase without adding unnecessary bulk when you aren’t using it. That’s a balance many bags struggle to strike; they’re often either minimal and flimsy or sturdy and bulky. Here, EVERGOODS manages both.

Throughout our testing, the Transit Duffel 25L felt more like carrying a large briefcase than a traditional duffel. We packed it for a weekend trip to stay with family, where it fit neatly behind the front seats or in the trunk without monopolizing valuable space. The grab handles made it easy to pull in and out of the car, and the bag never felt cumbersome. Later, we left our work gear inside and carried it into a coffee shop for the day. That’s something we probably wouldn’t do with a larger duffel, but the Transit Duffel 25L is compact enough that it doesn’t look out of place in that environment. If anything, its proportions blur the line between travel bag and everyday carry, and that’s part of what makes it so versatile, if you can manage that little space.

Fit Notes

At 25 liters, the bag is compact enough that it never felt unwieldy during testing, whether we were carrying it into a coffee shop with our work gear or hauling it from the car into a family member’s house for a weekend trip.

The removable shoulder strap is fairly minimal. There isn’t a ton of padding, nor does the shoulder pad cover a huge portion of the strap. Even so, we found it surprisingly comfortable for a bag this size. If you’re carrying a particularly heavy load for an extended period, it’ll eventually start to dig into your shoulder a bit, though switching sides or changing how you carry it is usually enough to stay comfortable.

EVERGOODS includes elastic strap keepers to manage the extra webbing, and we’re always happy to see them. It’s a small touch, though it keeps everything looking tidy whether you’re using the strap or storing the bag.

The back panel has a bit of padding, though not quite as much as we’d hoped for. Since it’s shared with the laptop compartment, things feel a little firmer when a computer is stowed inside. Without a laptop, there’s a bit more give. Either way, we never found it uncomfortable.

You can also carry the bag flipped the opposite direction if that’s more comfortable for you. Doing so puts the hook-and-loop logo patch against your body instead of facing outward. Unless you’ve attached a particularly chunky patch, it isn’t much of an issue since it blends into the bag fairly well. Just be mindful not to overload the quick-access pocket on that side, or you’ll feel those items pressing against you while carrying the bag.

Inside The Duffel

The Transit Duffel 25L keeps its organization relatively simple. EVERGOODS doesn’t try to turn this into a mobile office with dozens of tiny pockets. Instead, the bag gives you a few thoughtfully placed compartments and leaves the main storage area open for you to organize however you want. If you like using packing cubes, a tech pouch, and a toiletry kit, this bag fits that style well. If you want a bag that tells you exactly where every item should go, you may want to look elsewhere.

The interior is lined with 420D HT nylon 6,6, which provides a durable and easy-to-see backdrop for your gear. The lighter interior makes it easier to find items inside the bag, while the material feels like it can handle the abuse that comes with a travel duffel.

Starting with the exterior, there are pockets on the front and back for quick access. The pocket on the rear of the bag sits behind the luggage pass-through. It’s a large, flat compartment with no internal organization, making it best suited for larger items you want to keep separate from the main compartment.

Because the pocket shares space with the luggage pass-through, you’ll want to be mindful about what you put inside. A 13-inch laptop fits nicely here, and the padding provides some protection. EVERGOODS advertises this pocket as fitting a 14-inch MacBook Pro, and we think that should work, though it’ll likely be a tighter fit. This isn’t the compartment we’d choose for long-term protection during rough travel, but for carrying a laptop around town or between destinations, it works well.

The front pocket adds a bit more organization. Inside, you’ll find a key leash, three medium-sized pockets, and a smaller pocket designed for items like pens, pencils, or a stylus. It’s a nice little admin area for the things you don’t want floating around the main compartment. The layout is simple, but it gives the bag a little more everyday usability without turning it into an over-organized tech bag.

Opening the main compartment reveals where the Transit Duffel 25L earns its name. This is where the majority of your storage lives. The zipper opening is supported by aluminum sheets on both sides, which help the bag maintain its structure while open. The stays make fitting especially bulky items inside a little awkward at first, but we quickly got used to working around them. They also help the bag hold its shape, so we’d rather have them than not. Plus, you can remove them.

Inside, the main compartment is intentionally open. There aren’t a bunch of dividers competing for space, which means you can pack it however makes sense for your trip. Two collapsible end pockets add some built-in organization. These are sized to fit items like an EVERGOODS CAP1 or a water bottle, giving you a place for smaller gear without sacrificing the flexibility of the main compartment.

There’s also a small zippered pocket for items you want tucked away. Beyond that, the rest of the space is yours.

And that’s really the Transit Duffel 25L’s approach to organization. It provides just enough structure to keep important items separated, but it doesn’t force you into a specific packing style. Like doing organization with packing cubes, a tech pouch, and a toiletry kit? This bag is going to make a lot of sense. Want every item to have its own dedicated compartment built into the bag? This might not be for you.

For our weekend trip, that flexibility worked well. The bag held everything we needed for a couple of days away with family. Then, when it was time to work one day, we simply removed the packing cubes, leaving our work setup inside, and brought the entire bag to a coffee shop. That versatility is where the Transit Duffel 25L shines. It’s small enough to feel normal in everyday settings, yet capable of handling a short trip without feeling cramped.
