Plenty of gear, from tech to toiletries to other travel accessories, does better in a smaller pouch than tossed willy-nilly in your bag. You don’t want to scrounge around your travel backpack to find your shampoo, or dig deep into your laptop bag for your mouse, right?

That’s why Solgaard made the Lifekit Versa Organizer. It holds whatever small gear you need to bring in a more organized fashion. Maybe you need something to carry all your lotions, sunscreen, soap, and toothpaste for a weekend getaway, or maybe your daypack lacks enough pockets for all the cords, dongles, wall chargers, and other computer accessories you need to get through the workday. Whatever you want sorted, the Lifekit Versa Organizer is there to help. What fits inside, and will it fit into your daypack? Let’s find out.
External Components
Like many other Solgaard travel accessories, the Lifekit Versa Organizer is made with Shore-Tex®, a proprietary material made from recycled plastic. The exterior looks and feels like durable polyester or even ballistic nylon, though, unlike your favorite backpack, it has a built-in structure to protect the items stored inside.

The Solgaard name is printed in a lighter color for the darker colorways, so it’s a light gray on our Galway Green, and a darker color on the lighter colorways for contrast. All the choices have black SBS zippers with a dark metal Solgaard-branded pull running around the outside, which works well.

There are also black handles on both short ends of the back side. They are rather short and shallow. It’s easy enough to loop a finger through either one to pull it out of your bag, but there isn’t enough room to get even a smaller hand through it. We recommend grabbing the pouch itself instead if you must carry it for a long time.

The Solgaard Lifekit Versa Organizer has a slim design to help it fit into tighter spaces, but its structure doesn’t allow it to squeeze into pockets or bags that are too shallow. We’ve been tossing it into the bottom of our travel daypack, and none of our tech accessories have had any issues with other items sitting on top. However, we’re not sure how careful you need to be with the cords, wall chargers, pens, and USB dongles we packed inside. While it fits easily into a 17L backpack, it takes up more space inside than if we put the same accessories in another tech kit. However, if you like to carry more than our tester, you might be able to fit it since we have unused space left over in the organizer.
Inside The Pouch
When you open the Solgaard Lifekit Versa Organizer, it splits in half to lie flat on whatever surface you set it on, whether that’s your desk, a sink, or a table. That makes it easy to see what’s inside and grab what you need.

There’s similar, but not identical, organization on each side. Against the front of the bag is a large zippered mesh pocket lined with water-resistant material. If you’re using the pouch as a toiletry bag, you can stash travel-size bottles of liquids or creams inside. That water-resistant material only backs the mesh panel, though; the remainder of the pocket is liner material.
We’ve been using the organizer as a tech pouch during our two-week test. We put a USB-C cord with multiple ends and a slim wall charger inside to charge our travel mouse and keyboard when they inexplicably die without warning. However, travel-size bottles also fit, either standing up or lying down, depending on the capacity and shape of the container.

In the center between the two halves is a longer piece of elastic that holds a pen, stylus, or toothbrush, depending on how you use the pouch. It grips our pen tightly, and we’ve had no issue with it sliding out without our knowledge.
Against the back of the pouch is another mesh zippered pocket that’s a mirror image of the one on the front. This one, however, is made with actual mesh. That means it’s a little easier to see inside, but liquids will definitely leak out if they spill. We put our handy tape measure and travel mouse here, though there’s also room for a battery bank, dongles, or SD cards—whatever small tech or accessories you want to carry.

On the face of this pocket are four elastic straps. They’re too wide for pens or pencils, but work great for cords and cables. They hold them in place without hanging on so tightly that you struggle to get what you want. You could also use them for flash drives or slim USB hubs; anything about the width of a pack of gum should fit nicely.
Overall, if you want a tech kit that can carry toiletries in a pinch instead, and you like having the ability for it to lie flat when you open it and some structure to keep your gear from getting crushed, the Solgaard Lifekit Versa Organizer might be right for you. It’s like a grown-up pencil case—it can work for many different things, and is handy for various situations. Will it exactly fit every piece of tech you own? Probably not. Can you find a place inside for what you need that works for you? Probably.
