The TOM BIHN Snake Charmer is one of those organizers whose name suggests a very specific purpose, though it quickly proves capable of much more. While it was designed as a pouch for taming charging cables and other tech accessories, its simple layout makes it equally suitable for toiletries, travel essentials, first-aid supplies, or just about anything else you want to keep contained inside your backpack or luggage. Instead of relying on built-in pockets and dividers, you get two spacious compartments that you can customize however you like.

That flexibility ended up being one of our favorite aspects during testing. Over two weeks of use, including international travel, we found ourselves reaching for it for far more than just electronics. Whether carrying makeup, medication, chargers, or hair accessories, the TOM BIHN Snake Charmer adapted easily. It won’t organize everything for you, however, so travelers who prefer more specialized pockets may need to add their own smaller pouches or cable ties to get the most out of the design.

One thing we appreciate about TOM BIHN gear is its understated appearance, and the Snake Charmer follows that same philosophy. There aren’t unnecessary exterior pockets or decorative details competing for attention. Instead, every feature has a practical purpose, making it easy to use whether it’s packed inside a travel backpack or sitting on a hotel bathroom counter.

Depending on the colorway you choose, the materials may differ. TOM BIHN regularly updates the available fabrics, so some versions come in ripstop nylon, while we’ve seen ballistic nylon options in the past. The exact combination may vary over time, but the overall construction feels durable and ready for frequent travel. Both fabrics offer solid abrasion resistance while remaining relatively lightweight for an organizer of this size.

The exterior also includes multiple grab points that proved more useful than we initially expected. A top carry handle makes it easy to lift from a packed travel bag, while side handles let you grab it regardless of how you’ve oriented it inside your luggage. That small touch saves time when digging through a tightly packed backpack.

Another welcome feature is the attachment loop, which works alongside TOM BIHN’s modular ecosystem. If you’re already using one of the brand’s bags with interior O-rings, the Snake Charmer can clip securely into place instead of floating around loose inside your pack. Even if you don’t use the modular system, the loop provides another carrying option or a place to attach accessories.

Mesh panels on both sides of the organizer let you quickly identify what’s stored inside each compartment without opening every zipper. Since each side is independent, being able to see whether your chargers or toiletries are behind a particular zipper helps speed up access during travel.

The organizer comes in two sizes: Small and Large. Although the listed capacities are 2 liters and 3 liters, respectively, the Large feels noticeably bigger than the specifications suggest. In practice, it offers substantially more room than the Small, making it better suited for travelers carrying larger toiletries or bulkier accessories. That said, we suspect many travelers will find the Small provides more than enough space for everyday carry.

Inside The Pouch

Rather than relying on a single large opening, the TOM BIHN Snake Charmer splits its storage into two completely separate zippered compartments. Each side opens independently with dual zipper pulls, allowing access from multiple angles depending on how you’ve packed it. During testing, this layout made it easy to dedicate each side to a different category of gear without mixing everything.

The larger version became an excellent travel toiletry organizer. One compartment comfortably held a full makeup kit while still accommodating a TSA liquids bag when necessary. The opposite side handled larger grooming items, such as hair brushes, clips, razors, and other accessories, without feeling cramped. Even when both compartments were packed nearly full, neither noticeably stole space from the other. The divider maintains its shape well enough that each section feels like its own storage area rather than two compartments fighting over the same interior volume.

One feature we particularly enjoyed is that the pouch stands upright on its own. While that may sound like a small detail, it makes a noticeable difference when using it in hotel bathrooms or on countertops. Instead of collapsing every time you remove an item, it remains standing while you search through your gear.

The biggest tradeoff becomes obvious once you start loading smaller accessories. There are no stretch pockets, elastic loops, or zippered dividers inside either compartment. Everything simply shares one large open space. For makeup or toiletries, that may not be much of an issue, especially if you’re already accustomed to digging through a cosmetic bag. However, loose cables and small adapters can quickly become tangled together without additional organization.

That became especially apparent when using the Snake Charmer as a tech pouch. A battery bank, wall charger, and multiple charging cables fit comfortably inside one compartment with room to spare. Capacity certainly isn’t the issue. Instead, keeping everything organized requires a little extra effort. Using reusable cable ties or small accessory pouches helps maintain order and prevents cables from becoming exactly what the product’s name implies it should prevent: a tangled pile of snakes.

Fortunately, the uncompartmentalized but spacious interior also makes the organizer highly adaptable. One side can serve as a first-aid kit while the other stores electronics. You could dedicate one compartment entirely to toiletries and the second to grooming accessories. Alternatively, photographers, digital nomads, or families could each customize the layout to fit their own packing style. That versatility is arguably the Snake Charmer’s greatest strength.

Instead of dictating exactly how your gear should be organized, TOM BIHN leaves the decision entirely up to you. Travelers who already own smaller organizers will likely appreciate having one larger pouch that brings everything together. On the other hand, those looking for a highly structured tech pouch with dedicated cable loops and elastic organizers may find the minimalist approach a bit too simple.
