Full Review
Whether you’re packing a sling, a daypack, or a travel backpack, there are often things you don’t want just bouncing around larger compartments. Scrounging for your earbuds to take a call or your sunglasses when the sun peeks out from the clouds might not be fun when there’s a lot of other gear inside your bag.

Enter the Bellroy Lite Pocket Trio. It’s a three-pack of tiny pouches to hold whatever you need, wherever you need it. How are they working out in real life? Let’s find out.
External Components
The material Bellroy uses for the pouches is durable yet lightweight. It’s made primarily from recycled nylon, with a ripstop-like grid design for texture. The Bellroy name is printed on the front, and they have the same vibe as Bellroy’s other pouches and slings, just in a miniature size.

All three are the same color, and we’ve been testing the Clay. At the time of this review, you can also get them in Black, Ash, and Spruce. All four colorways are nicely earth-toned, so they won’t look out of place as you pull them from your bag.
You get three pouches in the set (it is called a trio, after all). One is larger and rectangular, with a round top. It comes with a tiny carabiner attached to a loop on its side, but you can move it to the other side or to another pouch if you prefer. It’s a convenient way to keep small gear within reach outside of a bag, and we almost wish the set came with more. You can obviously add your own if you want to connect more than one pouch to a bag, as all three sizes have the same corded loops on both sides.

The other two pouches are smaller: about half the size of the larger one. One is the same height as the larger one, but half the width, with a rounded top. The other is slightly shorter but still half the width; it’s more barrel-shaped than the other two pouches, with rectangular corners on the top and bottom. All three have decent depth, so they can handle thicker gear, not just cards or flat items.

Along with the corded loops, there are corded pulls on the YKK zippers with heat-shrink material wrapped around the ends for easy grabbing. The zippers work well, and the pouches are easy to open and close, especially with the help of the side loops.
Inside The Pouch
There’s not much happening inside the pouches. They’re providing the organization, after all, so it’s unsurprising that there are no extra pockets in the pockets. They have the Bellroy motto and logo printed on one side with the cleaning instructions on the other (spot clean only—no machine washing).

However, once you get them open, you’ll see each has a slightly gusseted base to help it stand upright, depending on what you’ve packed inside. We have better luck getting the large and small barrel-shaped ones to stand upright than the smaller, rounder pouch, but it could be because the gear we have inside that one—a tiny mirror, lip balms, and gloss—makes it more top-heavy than the gear inside the others.

What do we have inside the others? We’re glad you asked. The larger one is actually the perfect size for sunglasses, and the loops let you hang it outside any bag, so they’re protected yet within easy reach. You could also use it for a small tech pouch, a first-aid kit, or a toiletry kit, depending on what you need to carry.

The barrel-shaped one is actually the one we used least, mostly because we only needed one tiny one. However, we made it into a tiny first-aid kit with bandages, hand sanitizer, and a pill container. It would also be great to pack wireless earbuds and a dongle for the plane, or a flashlight if you like keeping a small one with you at all times. The sky’s the limit for what you can use them for—mints and gum, hand sanitizer and lotion, flash drives and SD cards, you get the idea.

So if you want to lock down gear and still be able to move it between bags, this might be a great buy. The Bellroy Lite Pocket Trio is more budget-friendly than other small pouches we’ve tested, and the possibilities are endless when you start playing around with them. Connect them to your favorite crossbody, your kid’s school backpack, or the outside of your travel backpack or hiking bag. They’ll keep you from digging inside a larger bag for the tiny travel gear you need, and you won’t have to worry about losing small essentials from loose pockets.
