- The mount has a strong magnetic connection for MagSafe phones
- It can be used on multiple flat surfaces, whether you're in your car or desk
Cons
- The suction cup's performance is hit-or-miss, depending on the surface; more miss than hit in our case

Full Review
We’ve been testing the Ugreen MagSafe Car Mount for two weeks, and it’s one of those products that looks like it has a lot going for it on paper and on social media. It’s compact, adjustable, MagSafe-compatible, and designed to work on everything from a car dashboard to a windshield. There’s even enough flexibility in the mount that you can potentially use it outside the car, which gives it more utility than your typical dedicated car mount. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t quite as seamless as we hoped.

The biggest issue comes down to keeping the thing attached. While the Ugreen MagSafe Car Mount does a great job holding our phone, the suction base has popped off our dashboard and windshield multiple times. Hot weather seemed to make things worse. That’s a pretty significant problem for something designed to hold a phone while we’re driving. Still, there’s plenty to like here, especially if you value adjustability and the ability to move the mount between different surfaces.
The Rundown
The Ugreen MagSafe Car Mount uses a twist-to-lock suction cup that attaches to flat surfaces. Once the base is unlocked, you can place it down and twist the mechanism into the locked position. In theory, that creates a secure connection. In practice, though, we found that the suction eventually gave way, particularly after the mount had been sitting in the heat, cooking inside your car.

Once it’s attached, the actual phone-holding functionality works well. MagSafe-compatible phones snap directly onto the circular magnetic mount, and the mount includes two adhesive metal rings for use with non-MagSafe phones or cases. There’s no wireless or pass-through charging here, so we still need to connect our phone to a cable separately.
The mount itself is highly adjustable. We can rotate the phone 360 degrees and change the angle of the mounting arm, making it easy to switch between portrait and landscape orientations. That flexibility is one of this car mount’s biggest advantages, making it easier to position the screen exactly where we want it.

There’s also an adhesive plate for rougher surfaces. That’s useful when the suction cup can’t form a good seal, but it introduces another limitation: once the adhesive plate is attached to the car, it isn’t easy to move around. So while the mount itself is portable, the adhesive setup is considerably less flexible.
Fit Notes
In the car, we found that getting the Ugreen MagSafe Car Mount into the right position takes a little experimentation. The adjustment range helps a lot, since we can move the phone higher or lower, closer or farther away, depending on where the mount is installed. Once we found a good position, the viewing angle was excellent.

The problem is that we never completely trusted the mount to stay in place. Because it had already fallen off both the dashboard and the windshield of the car we tested in, our primary tester always ended up checking and re-tightening the suction mechanism after every single adjustment. That’s not ideal when you’re trying to quickly position your phone before driving. The hot weather we experienced during testing seemed to contribute to the suction releasing, which made us even more cautious about leaving it unattended.
Quick Comparison
Compared with the Ohsnap Car Mount we’ve been using for nearly two years, the Ugreen MagSafe Car Mount offers significantly more flexibility. In a perfect world, with cars full of flat, suction-cup-friendly surfaces, you can get really creative with mounting, allowing you to get great viewing angles or amazing camera angles for your vlog.

The Ohsnap sits firmly committed to wherever you decide to stick its adhesive base, but it wins where it matters most for a car mount: reliability. After nearly two years, it stays put. We know it isn’t going to fall suddenly while we’re driving. The Ugreen is more versatile, but that versatility doesn’t mean much if we’re constantly wondering whether the mount will remain attached.
Usage Timeline
Condition: Excellent
- Fairly large size for a dashboard mount
- However, we dig how flat it packs considering that size
- Cool how mobile it is—but does it stick?
Condition: Excellent
- Easily loses suction, even on completely flat surfaces
- Still in good shape (considering how many times it’s fallen off a windshield)
- Ironically, its most functional not in a car
