Full Review
The rise of Qi2 charging has made fast wireless charging much more practical for travel, especially if you’re juggling an iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch every day. The downside is that faster charging often creates more heat, which can impact charging efficiency and battery health over time. To address that, brands have started adding cooling systems into their newest charging stations, and that’s exactly where the ESR CryoBoost 3-in-1 Foldable Magnetic Charging Station stands out.

After testing it for two weeks, we found that ESR has managed to balance charging speed, portability, and convenience surprisingly well. This isn’t the smallest 3-in-1 charger we’ve tested, nor is it the cheapest, but it hits a sweet spot for travelers who want fast charging without carrying multiple cables and bricks. Add in a foldable design that packs down to roughly the size of a battery bank, and it becomes an easy addition to a tech pouch or sling.
The Rundown
At first glance, the ESR CryoBoost 3-in-1 Foldable Magnetic Charging Station looks fairly minimal. Folded flat, it resembles a compact wireless charging puck with a matte finish and rounded edges that feel clean and modern on a desk or hotel nightstand. ESR has clearly put thought into the aesthetics here, and it feels more refined than a lot of bulky travel charging stations we’ve tested.

The main Qi2 charging pad sits on the front and supports up to 25W charging for compatible devices. iPhone 16 series (except the 16e) and up can reach that speed, though previous MagSafe-enabled iPhone models are capped at 15W. Android compatibility may vary, as ESR primarily gears this towards Apple users, though the Qi2 standard means support should be fairly agnostic. ESR rates the entire system at 35W total, split between 25W for a phone and 5W each for AirPods and an Apple Watch. According to ESR, an iPhone 17 or 17 Pro can charge to 60% in 30 minutes, while an Apple Watch can reach 80% in the same amount of time.
Open the charger up, and you’ll reveal the cooling fan integrated behind the phone mount, along with the secondary charging surfaces for AirPods and an Apple Watch. The cooling system is really the headline feature here. ESR says the active cooling fan can reduce phone temperatures by up to 10.8°F (that roughly converts to 6°C of cooling) during charging, helping maintain charging efficiency while reducing long-term heat strain on your battery. The fan automatically activates when a phone is attached, though there’s also a physical button on the side that lets you disable it if you prefer a quieter setup overnight.

In practice, the fan is impressively quiet. We could hear a faint hum in a silent room, but it never became distracting during testing. If you’re especially sensitive to sound while sleeping, the ability to turn it off is useful, though we mostly left it running without issue. Compared to some competing cooled chargers, it’s noticeably less intrusive. That said, long-term durability could be a concern, given that we’re talking about a moving part.
Apple’s StandBy mode is a nice feature you can make use of with a stand like this. Prop your phone up horizontally while charging, and it turns into a bedside display or desk clock, so long as you enable the proper settings in iOS. The hinge feels sturdy enough to support repositioning throughout the day, and the magnetic alignment remained reliable with compatible phones during testing.

We also appreciate the included cable. ESR bundles a USB-C cable with a right-angle connector to keep the setup low-profile on a tabletop. It’s a subtle design choice, but one that reduces cable clutter and keeps the charger looking cleaner on cramped hotel nightstands or desks.

The included wall charger outputs 50W, though it only has a single USB-C port. Depending on your travel setup, you may still prefer bringing a multi-port charger for additional devices like a laptop or tablet. Still, for minimalist travel, the included brick and cable are enough to power the entire charging station without additional accessories.
Packability
This is about as packable as a 3-in-1 charging station gets. Folded down, the CryoBoost measures 4.33 x 2.44 x 0.62 inches (110 x 62 x 15.8 millimeters), making it compact enough to fit into most tech pouches, slings, or even a jacket pocket. At 6.35 ounces (180 grams), it’s heavier than minimalist MagSafe chargers, though still light enough that we never hesitated to throw it into a travel setup.

The integrated Apple Watch charger helps here, too. Instead of detaching completely like some competitors, it folds neatly into the body of the charger, so there are fewer loose parts floating around your bag. Combined with the low-profile right-angle cable ESR included in the box, the whole system feels intentionally designed for travel.
Because it packs down so small, we found ourselves throwing it into a bag during the day for quick top-ups at cafés or coworking spaces. You still need access to wall power—it’s not a battery bank—but being able to charge multiple devices with one compact setup is genuinely convenient when traveling.
Quick Comparison
Compared to the ESR HaloLock 3-in-1 Travel Wireless Charging Set, the CryoBoost feels like a clear upgrade if fast charging matters to you. The HaloLock weighs less, at 4.1 ounces (116.2 grams), and costs less too, with a regular retail price of $87 that often drops to $64 on sale. However, its charging speeds are noticeably slower, topping out at around 15W, 2.5W, and 2.5W split between a phone, earbuds, and Apple Watch.

The CryoBoost increases overall output to 35W while remaining relatively compact, and for roughly $30 more on sale, the performance jump feels worthwhile. We also prefer the integrated Apple Watch charger on the CryoBoost. With the HaloLock, the watch charger detaches completely, adding flexibility but also creating another piece to lose while traveling.
Compared with the Anker Prime Wireless Charging Station, the ESR makes an even stronger case as a travel-focused option. The Anker supports similar Qi2 charging speeds with a 25W phone charger and 5W outputs for both earbuds and Apple Watch, plus a 19 dB cooling system with real-time temperature tracking. However, it’s heavier at 8.11 ounces and significantly more expensive at around $150.

During testing, the ESR also seemed slightly quieter despite lacking the same marketing emphasis on fan acoustics. All three chargers generally hit their advertised charging performance, but the CryoBoost strikes the best balance between price, portability, and charging power.
